The Douglas County project was started by a local businessman in an effort to capitalize on the emerging trend of blockchain processing data centers in the Central Washington region. This individual is the legal owner of the proposed site. The landowner has invested a substantial amount of initial capital required to secure the power capacity and to develop the project to a point at which an interested party would bring the remaining capital needed to complete the project and start producing revenue for the landowner in the form of a lease.
Smith Creek provides an incredible opportunity to locate a data center behind-the-meter at Smith Creek Hydro LLC (Smith Creek) in northern Idaho. Benefits include interconnection with Bonneville Power Administration’s reliable transmission system; long-term low-cost electricity service; low ambient temperatures; a new fiber optic network; and business-friendly County and State governments. Smith Creek is a low-impact run-of-river facility. Additional details are provided in the table below.
